OVERVIEW: This is Carl Bergner’s 3-faced doll – laughing, crying, sleeping – all faces are superb and you will not find a better example! Her original body is in very good aged condition. She is fully dressed in antique clothing. Her three-faced head is likely by Simon and Halbig. Layaway is always an option, but please contact me prior to purchase to discuss terms. Here are the details:
HEAD: Her bisque head has three faces, laughing, crying and sleeping. The bisque is fine quality. Each face has sharp modeling of character features and each is artistically painted. Her laughing and crying faces have blue glass eyes. Her crying face has molded tears. Her head is encased in a composition “hood” and set on a composition shoulderplate. A round knob on top of her head turns her faces. The back of her shoulderplate is marked C.B. Examination: a pinpoint rub in one brow and nothing else to report – really beautiful bisque.
BODY: Her original jointed body has a carton torso with composition shoulderplate, arms and legs. Her composition retains all the shiny original finish with no repairs or repaint. The torso is also in very good aged condition. The composition shoulderplate has a split where one shoulder meets the attached “hood”. She retains her working crier.
CLOTHES: She is wearing a sweet antique costume. Her dress is gauzy pink with a white yoke, trimmed with lace. The dress has no closures – it slips on over her head. Her bonnet is attached to the netting that surrounds her face. Underneath she wears a nice lacy half-slip and bloomers. She also wears white leather shoes.
