OVERVIEW: This is a very charming Papier Mache lady, circa 1860. Her Papier Mache shoulder-head is in fine aged condition with excellent painting details. Her antique cloth body has carved wooden arms. She is fully dressed in aged layered clothing. She is superb. Layaway is always an option, but please contact me prior to purchase to discuss terms. Here are her details:
HEAD: She has an excellent shoulderhead with no cracking, crazing or repaint on the face or shoulderplate. Other than some expected paint wear, there is nothing to report. She has unique painting with beautifully detailed feathered brows, unusual eye shape, and wispy hair outlines surrounding her face. She has nice modeling of features with well-defined nose, lips, chin and ears. Her molded hair has a center part with all-over curls and her ears are fully exposed.
BODY: Her clothing is sewn-on, so I cannot photograph her body, although I have examined it well. She has an antique cloth body with carved wooden lower arms. I have owned her for a very long time, and I just realized as I was taking her photos, that her arms have an old repaint.
CLOTHES: She wears a very nice dress that is all hand-stitched and appears to be antique. I believe that her chemise and pantaloons are also antique, and her half-slip is likely made long ago of antique fabric. She has long black stockings and hand-sewn white leather shoes with black laces.
