Sale Pending: This beautiful early lady is marked B 1 S for Claude Blampoix. Blampoix produced bisque and china heads between 1855 and 1870, and supplied them to many other French doll makers. This lovely early example is circa 1860. She has a perfect bisque head and her original early French pink kid body. She is fully dressed including her charming period dress. Layaway is always an option, but please contact me prior to purchase to discuss terms. Here are the details:
Head: Her bisque is perfect. She has almond-shaped, deeply-threaded, cobalt glass eyes. She is marked under the leather on the rear shoulder-plate, B 1 S. She wears a blond mohair wig with braids surrounding her face and loose curls falling to her shoulders. She is a stiff-neck model, which is expected of these earlier ladies produced circa 1860. Signs of Wear: None! Factory Imperfections: Minor speckling that is greatly magnified in my close-ups but barely noticeable on display, otherwise mint and flawless.
Body: Her original French pink kid body is in amazing condition - firm and upright with no patching or repairs. This is a typical French body of the period, and it is also found with early china heads and so-called French-type Papier Maches.
Clothes: She is wearing a wonderful antique dress of the period, with cartridge pleats at the waist and a drawstring to gather the neckline. It fits her perfectly. Underneath, she wears an antique half-slip with double ruffle and bloomers of antique fabrics. Her knit stockings appear to be antique. Her straw hat is by Finishing Touches on Doll Shops United and her leather shoes with heels are custom made for her.
